Cliff Lee is the most popular baseball player in Boston right now and he has never even worn a Red Sox jersey.
I will forever rememeber where I was when OJ went on the white bronco chase, the Twin Towers were hit and now, when Cliff Lee took less money to not play for the Yankees. The only difference is that today is a great day for America, a great day for baseball and a great day for Boston!
Lets get Mayor Mumbles Menino to step up his game from making incoherent commercials with Big Papi and have him get Lee a key to the city.
Lee wants to have after hours drinks at the Top of the Hub - no problem, here is a key to the city. Lee wants to bungee jump off the Hancock tower? Done.
And while we are at it let's retire his number at Fenway. As far as I'm concerned, it is deserved.
With C.C. coming off knee surgery, Burnett having an awful year and Phil Hughes still unproven - not getting Lee was a major blow to the Yankees and a major win for the Sox.
Now we just have to worry about facing Lee when the Rangers come to town...
Wait, Lee signed with who? The Phillies? Didn't they trade him last year? Don't they already have Halladay?
Yes, yes and yes.
Which leads me to wonder if the following rotation even legal?:
Halladay, Lee, Oswalt and Hamels ?!?!?!?
Oh man, maybe we should hold off on the key ceremony until after the postseason...
